The Content Management System

At Fiix, our current content management system (CMS) Web Enterprise is a graphical, intuitive and user-friendly system. It handles the uploading and optimizing of images. It enables you to change content using a WYSIWYG editor. It provides the ability to set publication and release dates, version control, showing/hiding of pages, multiple reports and workflow.

The technology
The CMS is built on Microsoft’s .NET 3.5 Framework. It uses an approach whereby modules such as news, surveys, polls, etc, are plugged into the CMS – it’s an approach that means we’re able to add and remove modules with ease. As a result, new functionalities such as an e-newsletter marketing system can be written as a separate module, unit tested separately and then plugged into the CMS. This means there is no downtime for the main website when new functionality is added.

In addition, this loosely coupled approach means that modules are not tightly integrated into the core CMS code. As a result the entire website does not need to be taken down in order to add new functionalities. They can be simply added in real time.

Add/remove/edit pages with the ability to preview pages before publishing. Built in WYSIWYG editor fully integrated into the system for:

Basic or advanced formatting
Insertion of uploaded images/flash movies
Linking to other pages or external files and sites
Content tree and content organization
Multiple page templates
Content scheduling and archiving
Add/remove/edit site administrators with multiple levels of access and much more
